Yes.A reason to play is inside the loop. A streak works from outside it — the pull is avoiding a loss, and it operates on days you do not want to play at all.
Not quite.That is how it is described. A reward you lose by missing a day is a penalty with a friendly name.
Not quite.The size of the bonus barely matters. What produces the behaviour is the reset.
Ask what a system would look like if it were designed for your enjoyment, and what it would look like if it were designed for your hours. Often they differ in one detail.

The last frame maximises returning players and minimises enjoyment. Why would a studio ship it?
Yes.Enjoyment is hard to measure and daily active users is not. Optimising what is measurable, at the cost of what is not, is the single most common way a well-meaning studio makes its game worse.
Not quite.Nobody sets that target. It arrives as a side effect of the target they did set.
Not quite.It matters enormously over years — and it arrives in the numbers much later than the retention figures do.

A game sells a random box of items for real money. Why is that treated differently by regulators in several countries?
Yes.The design uses the same uncertainty that makes gambling compelling. Whether it should be regulated as gambling has been argued in several parliaments, and some have decided that it should.

What is the fair conclusion about game design?
Yes.Feedback, uncertainty, progression and matchmaking are not tricks — they are what makes play work. Recognising when they are being aimed at retention rather than enjoyment is the whole of this course.
Not quite.Most are made by people trying to make something good. The failure usually comes from measuring the wrong thing, not from wanting harm.
Not quite.It puts the whole burden on the person facing systems built and tested by teams. Knowing how the systems work is more useful than resolving to resist them.
