Yes.The two false entries are the old explanations — sleep as economy, sleep as a way to pass the night. Both are hard to square with a state this active, this dangerous for a prey animal, and this universal.

Yes.Some recovery does happen, and it is partial. Treating sleep as a weekly total that can be settled later is the assumption that quietly does the damage.
